Welcome to Le French Film Club of Palo Alto 2016 Edition!

Through this website, we hope to inform and share with you a small window into the world of French cinema.
During the last four years we grew from 296 MEMBERS to 1546 in 2012 and 1858 in 2014, and 2297 in January 2016, some young and curious, some actual or retired professional filmmakers.
We welcome all francophones and francophiles alike.

From Georges Melies to Jean Cocteau, Jean Gabin, Francois Truffaud, Eric Rohmer, Women Directors like Claire Denis and many more, we like to view and review the works of as many French filmmakers, Actors and Actresses as possible. We invite you, to review our film library including the archive of past Movienights.

Our navigation bar is also a tool to access information beyond the confines of this website. From links to Film Festivals to French language schools for you or your children and your need to get a babysitter at the last minute, we bring you tips and services to make your access to our Movienights easier. If you have questions, the "contact us" link at the bottom of each page and type in your questions. We will answer you within 24 hours. You can also call us and leave a message at 650-380-6932

On regular MovieNights, we offer snacks and dips, tangerine and grapes with beverages, soft drinks, tea, coffee, water and wine. And a cash bar per many wine afficionados requests of only french wines, not because we ostracize other international wines but because we believe that is part of our offer as described in our motto below. Finally an after movie dessert of crêpes with chocolate spread and jam from JAMFORGOOD, a non-profit collecting funds for a good cause: Helping the children in the streets of Nicaragua. Learn more here

On special events nights, we prepare a special menu which will be announced here and in our newsletter: More of the same but with added cheeses, salami, grapes, champagne, boudin blanc (white sausages).

Thanks for your active participation; we would not exist without you. Thanks also to our Volunteers without whom the French Buffet and Bar to help get the conversation going would shorten our Movienight experience and social interaction.

Mission Statement

Le French Film Club (LFFC) is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization incorporated in the State of California. LFFC’s mission is to create and offer Californian Francophones and Francophiles innovative and unique programs in education and the arts that explore the evolving diversity and richness of French cultures. LFFC seeks to generate new ideas and promote cross cultural dialogue through partnerships and new platforms of expression.
Founded in 2008, the French Film Club of Palo Alto and Le French Film Club operate as one organization, promoting French arts in the Bay Area of San Francisco.
Currently, we are located at 555 Waverley St in Palo Alto on the beautiful campus of the All Saints Episcopal Church, LFFC reaches out to over 1500 members and Movienight meetings are held twice monthly on Fridays.
The Parish Hall where Buffet-Conversations and discussions are held can seat 200.
Performing Arts, such as Classical and Contemporary Music and Art Shows, book signing, literary, and other cultural events and our only year-round French cinema series Movienights, are held in this downtown community center (featuring a demonstration kitchen) where we present exclusive Art de Vivre events; ensures a vibrant cultural force for San Francisco’s Bay Area residents of all ages and backgrounds.
